The deed is done!

Olwyne Mary's granddaughter here in the UK is now the proud posessor of an almost new Brother XL5021 sewing machine! :)

What a great kid she is, and what a nice family. :) What a pleasure to deliver a gift so well received and so greatly appreciated. I left her already starting on a bag in a lurex denim I used to help pad the machine in the box... :)

I had an ECSTATIC transatlantic phone call (their dime!) Dgd has already made herself the bag, and is looking for what else to make. I e-mailed the link for the Wild Ginger freebies for hats and bags, and she wants a pattern for a long skirt.

Kate doesn't tell you the half. Or even the quarter. Not only did she find, buy and deliver the machine for me, she also packed it in the box with several lengths of fabric, thread, buttons, zippers, pins, needles, pattern etc, and, what's more, every last one of them was properly gift-wrapped.

I owe Kate big-time. (Anything you want sent from over here, Kate, just yell for it.)

Next thing is to find where in her neighborhood dgd can buy fabric. DD tells me the stuff on base is dreadfully expensive. Of course, I can send her anything her little heart desires, but it is not the same as going to the store and stroking all the fabric before you buy it.

One very happy girl, a week before Christmas, and I am so glad she was able to get it early so it wasn't "swamped" by all the rest of the stuff Santa will probably leave for the family.

Thank you, Mistress Kate.

I should think so, judging by the way that machine was being used when I left! Even Little Sis (grade 2) wanted a go! :) I said Big sis would probably show her when she had mastered the machine herself, in a year or two... That seemed to be the right thing to say as BOTH their eyes had a speculative look in them...

What a lovely story. True transatlantic cooperation. Well done to all involved. Good to hear than an interest in sewing has been kindled in another young person.

Nah, it was fun! :) But since Olwyn Mary first asked here, I thought you'd like to know how it worked out. :)

That's it! I have the file on my pooter, but Mozilla is ignoring it srill. I'll get DH to look at it later in the week, when he gets back.

If you want to check out the settings for your sig file. Go up to the menu bar and click Tools, then Account Settings. Then in the box that pops up click the account you use for this newsgroup (usually begins with news.) You will find a box for the signature you want just below the boxes for your name/email and such. Just select, use this signature and point it to the text file with your signature.

I felt like I'd left the baby parked somewhere and fogotten it... ;)

Reminds me... Once, when James was tiny, I parked him with the child minder for the day and went off to uni to a lecture and to spend some time in the library (I was finishing my MA at the time). Spent ALL DAY groping for that buggy and wondering where I'd abandoned him!

That's wonderful! I am certain all involved are very appreciative, especially the young lady who received the machine. Yoo-hoo for Kate! Emily

OOPS, Forgot that the Thunderbird I use has a couple different items than the original Mozilla project. Sorry about that.
