Thrift Store bargain! $4 Rowenta! & $10 Coronado but the motor is stuck in high gear!!!

I did a bit of thrift shopping today between appointments & found a nice solid Rowenta Iron for $4. I haven't tested it out yet but it looks perfectly clean and the lady at the store said they plug them in but she didn't test it personally. for $4 its worth a test!

I also found a Coronado sewing machine, it must be built in the 40's or 50's, it is all metal and has an external motor. it was $10 and I have three days to return it if I am not happy. I got it home, plugged it in and off it went! I didn' even turn anything on, I can't find an on/off button. This is not good.... The motor seems to be stuck in a VERY fast gear and I can't find anything on the outside to slow it down. It comes with a foot pedal but that does no good at all. I don't want to plug it in again because I am afraid the motor will burn out or something.

Does anyone have any ideas about this motor? I would hate to see this machine go to waste, it is nice & solid. It does an adjustable straight stitch, and it will also do a zig zag but it seems to be missing the plate with the wider opening for the needle.

thanks!

Simple fix. You have the motor plugged into the light socket. Swap those 2 plugs and your good to go.

I suspect that there are 2 plugs. One is for the light and one is for the motor / foot pedal. Its hard to tell them apart.

Ron & Liz, you were both right! I was honestly freaking out. I took it to my father and he had a little chuckle and reversed the cords to the other plug ins. He is also going to clean up the dust out of the motor and oil it, we will probably wire a new foot onto it and it will be good to go! I may attach the motor to one of singer's that needs it more though, I just either need the right bracket or my father can modify this one or fabricate a new one. He is a welder so no big deal to do that!

Thanks all!
