Vogue pattern V8417

I've just bought this Vogue pattern to make a posh dress for a Ball at the end of February. Has anyone bought the liquid satin from Croft Mill in the UK? Will it slide everywhere if I use it for this dress? Any suggestions where I can get some reasonable fabric for a sensible price?

I'm a reasonable dressmaker, been sewing for the last 45 years!...........I made my sister's wedding dress and my own.

Thanks,

Ah... Very swish!

The liquid satin WILL be very floppy and slippery - but perfect for this style. You could also send for swatches from Abakhan and BL Joshi UK as well: they both have similar fabrics at excellent prices. Shout if you need phone numbers, but both are on yell.com...

Click on Kate's Pages and explore!-Thanks, I might go with the liquid satin as a first attempt, I thinkthat I'll need to adjust the bodice, I'm not as long in the waist asthese patterns and don't want to be falling out while dancing. If itworks then I might go for something more expensive for a secondversion.

Are the phone numbers on your website?

Dear Megwen,

Buy yourself a package of tissue paper, or newsprint, if you can find it. Pin your fabric and pattern right to the tissue. It will not only keep it from sliding around, but will act as a stabilizer until you're ready to sew. Keep the pattern pieces attached to the paper until you're ready to go to the machine with that part of the pattern.

Joshi is, but not Abakhan: I'm in the process of updating the list!
