JoAnn Stores are offering a White #212 sewing machine on Black Friday. Does anybody have this machine or know anything about it? I'm wondering if it is worth buying as a starter machine for Granddaughter.

If it's a low-end White, think twice. I bought a lower-end White for my son as a beginner machine. It only lasted a few months before it started having problems, and three trips to the sewing machine store in three months weren't enough to fix it permanently (and the store who was fixing it said that we couldn't expect much of it), so we dumped it and went for a 50s or 60s era machine that is still going strong and has never had any problems.
