Yet another fitting question

Jul 10, 2003 2 Replies

Would it be okay to take about 1/4" out of the front bodice, right in the middle of the pattern? Or would it be better to do a couple 1/8" darts on the sides of the neck? I think, if I could do that, I would have the front and back ready and can move on to the sleeves.

Thanks!

It is better, more for looks really, to take the darts on each side of the neck.

If you want to take it out of the center neck, try placing the pattern on the fold (as per the instructions) and move the edge of the pattern 1/4" over the fold of the fabric. That will eliminate the extra fullness without having to sew the dart.

Remember you're working in half measurements though, so moving it 1/4" in will really be taking 1/2" out of the front.

Hope that helps!

I don't want darts on the final version. I'm talking about on the muslin. Is that what you mean too?

Wouldn't that have the same effect as taking the 1/4" out of the center front of the muslin? That's what I'm thinking I need to do, but I could be wrong.

Got'cha. Thanks for the feedback.
