best results for "photo-realistic" stamps?

Question

I can't remember if that's what they're called, but it's the ones that, when stamped, look like very much like a photo. Anyway, I wonder if anyone has suggestions for the best ink to use (kind? brand?) and how to apply it. I only have a couple of these but haven't got the best results. If you have any tips, I'd be so grateful! :-) ~alisa

I have the best luck with Ancient Page, Archival and Memories (try their Art Print Brown - great color).  The Ranger Adirondacks are good too, but not permanent if you plan to color the image with water based colors.With rare exceptions, you need to use a brayer to apply the ink - too splotchy otherwise. Use a mouse pad under your paper, more give that way. Try different papers and several stampings of the same image 'til you've worked out where more pressure is needed, etc.And, if you aren't doing it already, use glossy paper!  I do alot of collage and the matte paper works ok for that, but when I want a WOW! image as a focal point or to make the stamped image look like a real photo, the glossy paper is in another world.  I use Marcos Kromecote.I also find that some photo stamps just plain stamp better than others - I never have trouble with Oxford Impressions or Bella Rosa and can't get a good clear stamping from some of the others.JanetcAndRaley wrote:
