Hi fellow stampers, A couple of months ago I saw an ad for using photo slide frames on cards and just now have gotton around to doing some. They are GREAT - look so elegant on cards and gives you a chance to use lots of the tiny stamps you have. Note: go to your local photo shop and buy them - got mine for pennies compared to
8.49 for 12 that I saw in magazine and stores. Two ways to do - you can make two out of one slide if you carefully open and trim. Cover with your bits of left over paper, not cardstock - it's too heavy. Use double sided tape to adhere. Place on card, pick your stamps to see if they fit inside frame, and stamp.
2nd way - use the whole slide, VERY carefully slide a 'cut to fit' piece of acrylic, plastic, etc. stamp your item and again, VERY carefully slide behind the clear plastic. This gives a picture frame look and really classy. I covered slide to match my ink that I used in saying. Ideas: Baby Card - used bottle, bootie, soother, safety pin , inside frame that had been covered in light blue checked paper for a boy and pink checked paper for a girl. Birthday Card - for a fisherman friend - used small tackle box, fish hook, and fish inside frames.
Rule of thumb for balance is 3 frames per card but also did just one with the saying.
Try your hand at this - hope this gives you some ideas. Who would have thought to use slide frames (or am I just slow at discovering them)
BTW, can be risky to heat set if you emboss as plastic very thin - treat like vellum if you do - move heat gun back to about 5-6'' away - it does work on them.
