I am wondering which is the smoothest material available.....by smooth i mean "like touching glass"....or that silky texture kind of like satin. I was looking for something to line my clothing with....not silk...tried that and it felt real rough and i am looking for the oposite of rough....more smooth than satin if something like this exists........hopeing someone can advise........preferably nothing too expensive as i'm not rich....

many thanks in advance......A

There's different types of silk, and some of it does have a rough texture, but... have you ever felt silk charmeuse?

Linda

The smoothness or otherwise of silk depends on the weave. Satin is a weave not a fibre, and the smoothest satin I ever felt was woven from silk. I use a poly habotai light weight lining for most things, but it is just light weight. You need different types of lining for different things: light habotai for dresses, haevy twilled satin for coats, etc.
