Yes I have a chance tp buy an 8 foot lathe brand name I beleive is poitras. It comes with a 220 motor Does anyone know anything about this machine or even how much I should be thinking about paying for it it has I beleive 14 speeds. I have never owned a lathe before so an not sure what I should be looking for hope that you may be able to shed some light on this subject
Poitras is very nice equipment. They are usually used in cabinetry = shops. They were bought out by General, I'm told. You lathe is no longer = in production, but I suspect it is a 20" or 24" swing. A large lathe = that doesn't have variable speed is a pain to change speeds on. Because = of that, and because it is so long, you may get a good deal on it. You = say 220V. Single phase or 3-phase?
