Archives/Threads from PVC drain pipe

Feb 05, 2007 1 Replies

I recently saw a conversation about using PVC drain pipe screwed connections for inserting in wood that wouldn't take threads. I can't find it anymore, and I don't have any knowledge of how to use the Archives. I'm also looking for parts for projects. Specifically the piece that goes into the top of a wooden pocket watch. The chain hooks to this part, where a "real watch" would have the stem and winder. PSI sells them with the chain, and the size is 9/64, which is great. I also have some I already purchased from Woodcraft with the chain, but the size is 1/4. The 1/4 size is too big for the thin watches I am making, and I would like to replace this part with a smaller one, so that I can still use the chains that I have already purchased. I have made these pieces from Ebony and also from Corian, but I'd rather just buy them the size I want if it is possible.

Thanks for your help.

Don't know about the rest of your message, but I do know about searching the archives of any Google Usenet Group:

Although the link contains "group=rec.crafts.woodturning" it appears you still need to add it to the form to limit your search to this group.
