Art Show questions

Nov 07, 2007 6 Replies

The local "Fine Arts" association approached me this morning in regards to an art show over the Thanksgiving holiday..

I want to have more folks down here know about me and my work, but a couple of things kind of bothered me about this one..

They want $10 an ITEM to display it..

They would prefer that the artist NOT be "hovering" over their pieces..

It's an outdoor show over 2 days... Security? Taken indoors or left out?

I'm leaning towards a "No Thanks" but not sure... I can't see more than 50 or so people showing up and I'm not sure if it going to be worth the time, effort and risk to my pieces?

Any experience with these kind of shows?

If done a booth in shows but never this kind of "exhibit"..

Hi Mac, Sounds more like "Fine the Artist" to me, but I have no experience.

Thanks, Arch... that was kind of my thought..

If it's a fund raiser for the art association, I'd rather know up front and just send them a check..

Hi Mac & Reed, It would be a wash for me. I probably couldn't get more than ten bucks for my masterpieces anyway. :)

What's the exchange rate in your neck of the woods, Mac? Maybe I'd sound more successful in pesos. :)

Right, Reed.... The stuff you've taught me in the past helped raise the red flags... I will find out more about the "San Felipe Fine Arts Association" and see if it might be worth joining, though..

Thanks again, sir..

It's a little under 11 pesos to the dollar, Arch... In the year that we've been here it's been pretty stable... between 10.3 and

10.9 to 1, so we just figure roughly 10%

We had a water pump replaced in the Blazer yesterday and parts & labor totaled $950 pesos.. we round down and say "90 bucks"..
