for the work I do it pays to buy cheap blades for hacking green blanks,Does anyone know if the woodcraft 133in blades will work on the laguna 16se saw which normally takes 132in..Seems so close and the woodcraft blades fit my purpase..tia,rick
IMHO, skip the "cheap" blades online and get good quality "inexpensive" blades at a local saw shop..
The shop in my area does very nice blades, cut and welded to my specs, (105" blade, x# TPI, set, rake, etc.) for $13 to $20 US, depending on size.. (1/4" -
3/4")
They seem to be very good blades, a world apart from the ones that came on my Rigid saw or with my Grizzly riser block, and are about 1/2 the cost of name brand blades... and, best of all, it's instant gratification! You walk in, order the blade(s), and they do them while you're walking around the store trying really hard not to but a new cabinet saw, planner, router bit, etc.. lol
Check out the sale flyer that Grizzly recently sent out (Summer Sale 5/14 ends 9/3). They now carry Tmberwolf blades 62" to 180". I got a 3/4" 3 AS-S for 23.95, a 1/2" 14 raker for 19.95, and 1/8" 14 HP for 17.95. Timberwolf is supposed to be the top of the line and is Swedish silicon steel. Compare Grizz prices on these blades with Woodcraft and Leevalley etc. and you'll see that they are a lot higher in price. My 2 cents worth.
I've been getting the Woodcraft and Olson blades over at Woodcraft (duh) for $12.50 and $16 respectively. Sounds like the ballpark that you're talking about. I don't have to go searching or wait for them to be made up, just grab and go,pay first. %-)
I agree about the cheap blades though. Verrmont American isn't the *best* brand I can think of.
