bloodless injury?

That's the weird thing. I only have one account. (Rather, I only had one account before I picked up the most recent one.) The sourceforge.net address is just an email alias. I prefer to refer people to an alias so I have the freedom to change ISPs without losing a bunch of mail.

The real oddity is that it seems mail going to the alias, and then getting bounced to the real address, is making it through, while mail to the real address directly is disappearing into the bit bucket. Rather, mail from

*you*... It seems to be working fine for everyone else as far as I can tell.

I don't know, Dave. If I knew anything about how email really works, I wouldn't be driving a truck for a living.

It can be done in spades. I have all sorts of nifty stuff set up to file and sort mail based on who it's to and whatnot.

I will definitely enjoy the wood, and thanks again!

Sounds like an excuse to make some tools. :)

It's me, I knew it! Try asking your ISP, they should be able to sort it out. Have someone send you mail with a munged addy and see if it gets through. It's possible that the server is checking for real addys and filtering on that criteria, although that doesn't explain why it gets through to the other acct. Dave in Fairfax

I doubt it. I'm reluctant to even mention it. Every conversation with them stalls when they learn I'm not running Windows. They always ask questions in such a way that I can't help but reveal that I'm not, and then they start backpedaling and making excuses. As if it really matter what email program I'm using.

Michael, Dave is right about the 3 sided (pyramid ) tool. It's a natural for the shrooms, and it only takes a few minutes to make one if you have a piece of

3/8" or 1/2" HSS rod. Just grind the rod on 3 sides to a point; the sides don't even have to be the same angle or length as I've found that side to side to side differences can be a plus in some cases. It just has to be 6-8 inches long with a couple of inches in the handle to work fine. Since it is intended to be used as a plunge type cutter, it's a natural under a mushroom so long as you're careful as you approach the intersection of the head and the stem. Good look,

I'm going to make one out of 1/2" "cold rolled steel" because I had it laying around in the shop. I have no idea what alloy this is. Probably nothing that will hold an edge for very long, but OTOH, the price is right.

Total waste of time. It'll have no carbon in it and it won't even think about hardening.

Either find some old leafsprings, go to the shop and buy a small piece of O-1 or "drill rod" (silver steel if you're UK), or take a useless set of Crown or Blackspur chisels and turn them into something a bit more chisel shaped.

PS - If you want a quick intro to ferrous metallurgy, go to rec.knives and read the FAQs. Google will get them for you.

That's OK, I can't harden it anyway, unless there's something I can harden with an air/propane torch. I can't even braze with this thing.

You should be able to do both. Try getting some firebricks and building a hearth. Reducing radiant losses is like having three or four times the torch power.
