Has any body tried to boil wet bowls to remove the sap I understand that it helps with warping and cracking . How long do you boil them for and how often do you change the water Best regards Dave Reeks

Hi Dave,
I have not tried it myself, but if you do a google search on Steve Russell you will find a ton of info about it.

Hi Gambier
I have done some boiling, but do it only for extreme cases, it is overkill IMO for regular bowl wood, boil AT LEAST 1 hour per inch of wood thickness, keep it under the boiling water at all times while boiling, also keep it in the water until it (the water and the wood) has completely cooled off. Change the water ?? yes, I would not let it sit around till the next time, probably would be evaporated by then
Have fun and take care Leo Van Der Loo

I do not do boiling for green wood but here is a link on how to do that:
Empty the water after every boiling session. Bacteria seem to like dilute sap.
