Ken,

Whilst I've never seen a Wadkin Bursgreen lathe, I did recently move one of their table saws. Based on that experience, you will need various whitworth spanners (my saw was of 1969 vintage - they may have gone metric at some later point?).

Wadkin Ultracare [1] were very helpful to me when I asked for a manual, and sent it first class for a cheaper price than most of the websites offering manuals quoted. The parts diagrams will help you identify what's likely to come apart. If my saw is anything to go by then the biggest pieces are handleable by two people.

Are you sure it's a BXL? I've seen quite a few BZL models on the market but never a BXL. I know it may well be a model I haven't heard of though. If it's a BZL, then the picture in [3] might well give you some ideas about how you might get it apart.

One other thing - there's a yahoo group for Wadkin Bursgreen machinery owners [2] which may be another useful place to check.
