Decent Cordless Drills Under $35????

Anyone have good luck with inexpensive cordless drills of 12V or higher? I am looking for one (3/8 reversible) to be used maybe for 1/2 hr to 1 hr per month actual drill time. Will be drilling holes less than 1/2 inch in diameter and a few inches deep.. Looking for one that takes some inexpensive (cheap) batteries too. Was thinking about HF but thought I would check here first. Not looking for any kind of heavy duty construction model.

-thanks

A decent rechargeable battery will cost you at least $35........without the drill. Any luck with a cordless drill that costs less than $35 will probably be bad.

Go to a pawn shop and try to find a corded VSR drill. The chances of finding one will be much better.

I have a couple of those cheap Harbor Freight cordless drills in addition to name brand drills. They are always on sale and you can usually find the complete drill with battery and charger for half the price of a name brand battery alone. The drills work fine for occasional use such as you suggest, and the batteries are excellent, as good as anyone's. You have about a one in ten chance of needing to return the drill for replacement the first time out for one problem or another, but when you get a keeper, they are a tremendous value for the money. The chargers that come with them are trickle chargers - overnight, not the quick charge variety. I think Harbor Freight would be a good choice for what you said you want.

I recently purchased a Coleman 18 volt cordless drill with two batteries and a charger for a little under $38.00 at Costco. It works great with lots of power. Time will tell how long it lasts but at that price it doesn't have to last for ever.
