Delta 14" saw assembly question

Jan 13, 2004 5 Replies

Hi, I've almost completed assembly of a Delta X5 14" bandsaw. Everything went smoothly except the blade doesn't line up in the middle of the slot. It's rubbing against one side. Can the position of the table be adjusted? Thanks.

Can you adjust the blade guides sufficiently to support the blade on either side, even if the slot is off center a bit? If the alignment is off more than what can be accommodated by adjusting the blade guides, its time for a call to Delta's customer support hotline. Good luck.

I believe so. This is my first bandsaw and I assumed it would line up better. Would it be better to replace the slotted piece with one that had the slot in a different place?

Yeah, take the guides _completely_ out of the way and tension the blade first. Most likely you've the blade on the outside of the upper thrust bearing or such. Procedure for blade guide setup is in the directions, and Duginskie can't be too far away with The Bandsaw Book.

adjust the trunions to move the table so the slot lines up. It'll just take a few minutes. I know. I had one.
