Delta - Fox - Sip lathes - are they the same?

I am not familiar with the Sip or Fox, but the Jet and Delta are exactly the same castings of bed head and tailstock and the same motor. The switch location is not nor the paint color, I also have seen different handles, made from plastic, but mine are metal. These little lathes are very nice for the money they cost, over here $299 can. = approx 215 euro no tax included.

I don't believe this is true, Leo. My Delta midi has a different casting shape than the Jet mini - especially in the headstock section. Jet's is much more rectangular with well-defined corners - Delta's is more rounded.

Yes I think the are the same, except for the door opening to access the belt and the switch position, we switched tailstocks to see if they would fit, you would not know but for the color, even the washer to keep the tailstock from moving was the same, the first thing I changed into a rectangular plate and have no problem with the tailstock sliding back under pressure anymore. Have a look at the pennstate link they carry both the Delta and Jet lathes and also some more. To the best of my knowledge all parts fit either, belts pulleys bearings etc.

Paul.. I have a Jet mini which is a great little lathe and very economical...

I also have a Jet 1442 which is a 14" swing and reeves drive variable speed... I got into pen turning a little over a month ago.. or 100 pens ago, depending on how you look at it.. and have turned them all on the bigger lathe.. the mini gets to do the buffing...

You might want to try a few pens on the large lathe before investing in a smaller machine.... YMWV Mac
