Oct 31, 2003 4 Replies

Hi there....occasional lurker here! :)

I was hoping to turn a *very* large station-style clock for my wall. The problem I am having is in sourcing a movement to fit it. Any leads would be very muchly appreciated!

cheers muchly Glen

Ps. Another bind is that I'm in the UK...though obviously ordering it across the pond wouldnt be much of a problem.

Google "clock movement high torque"

KlocKit in the US is another source.

They also have balanced hands for the movements up to 17.5" (44.5 cm).

As "Hitch" said, search for "high torque" on KlocKit's web site.

You don't say what type of clock you are building. If I want a good movement I get my clock supplies from Emperor Clock. If I want a quartz type clock, I just go to the local crafts shop. Their address is:

I've used them several times, and always been very satisfied. They have high-torque clock movements, and also sets of very large hands. Most of their stock is on-line and can be ordered directly; but for some of their more obscure items you need their catalogue.
