green wood prep

I've done mostly between centers turning, but this weekend a neighbor removed some maple trees and I wound up with a dozen 1' to 2' lengths of trunk, mostly 18" diameter.

Any advice on prepping these for drying would be appreciated. Already have some ideas from DAGS.

Thanks (and gloat),

If you don't need them intact, cut the pith out lengthwise with your chainsaw and seal the ends with AnchorSeal or equivalent. Parrafin, even oil base paint is better than nothing.
