I don't know about woodturning but you are in the heart of Lincoln country -- lots of stuff around Springfield and you are close to New Salem where Lincoln lived for a few years in his youth.

Some fun things to see in St Louis and its not that far away -- woodcrafters has a great store and there is a killer wholesale wood supplier downtown as well as 2 or 3 others. Peoria has a woodcrafters, but noy much else I know of. Other than that, check the Lincoln sites is all I can suggest.

The downtown site is the 1400 block of North Broadway -- Hibdon Hardwood -- they import exotics from Guatemala, Mexico and other countries. If you intend to be there on a Saturday, better call and make sure if they are open and what the hours are. If you are into killer wood, this is a worthwhile trip. If you use small pieces of exotics, their shorts bin could make the whole trip worthwhile. Then, you will be only about 10 blocks away from the arch and a number of interesting historical sites.

All Woodcraft stores are pretty much the same -- seen one, seen them all. Same for Rockler.

If you plan to get to St Louis, there is a very active AAW chapter and lots of turners.

St Louis is about 1 1/2 hour drive from Springfield.

Birch tree down in my yard to allow holding tank for gray water for food truck. Free to remove. Two 10 - 15 ft trunks that are 8 - 10 in diameter at the base. Would make a lovely bench if ripped into slats. Sorry l missed you for quilt show. Location SW corner 60 & 125 toward Rogersville Thanks Nancy Harms
