Indexing on Rikon 70-100 mini lathe

Has anyone had any trouble with the indexing on Rikon's 70-100 mini lathe? Mine no longer works, I haven't opened it up to find out why - yet anyway. Just wondering if anyone else had a fix for this. I called tech support and they told me they'd call back, but haven't heard from them. I'll have to give them another call.

Hello S: I've had this happen several times. You should also be hearing a rattling noise from the headstock. Remove the belt and anything mounted to the headstock(chuck etc.) then remove the 4 bolts holding the headstock to the rails. Carefully tilt the headstock towards you. The wires for the on/off switch are in the headstock and you don't want to rip them off. You will need a long allen wrench to reach up to the set screw that holds the index plate to the shaft. There is either a dimple or a flat spot on the shaft so you will need to tighten the set screw a bit and hold the index plate and rotate the shaft till you find the dimple or flat spot and then tighten the set screw at that point. I wish I could get some locktite on that allen screw but haven't taken the time to figure out how to take it apart any further then this.
