I used to have a woodworking magazine from maybe 5 years ago which has some really fine furniture in it (it was not Fine Woodworking). But what really caught my eye was an article of a guy who built his own "spiral" lathe, where he was making huge turnings, maybe 15+ feet. From what I remember, his cutter was a circular saw that moved up and down the piece.
Does anyone remember this, and recall what magazine that was?
