New to me Delta wood lathe

I recently bought an old Delta Wood lathe. I have a serial number but where do I find the model number. I need to find out how to get the belt off so I can change it. It is cast iron with a cast iron stand. Any help is appreciated!

I suggest using link-belt as a replacement, and you won't have to disassemble anything. Besides being easier to replace, it runs smoother, particularly after the lathe has been idle, since it does not take a set.

Leo probably has a good idea. Good luck getting any technical help out of Powermatic -- I've tried it and failed.

Sorry -- I said Powermatic in the prior message -- read Delta.

You have found your self a very good machine for a starter or backup lathe. Yes you can use the link belt in place of the old one. From the old belt measure what you will need, order a little longer and start from there. 5/8ths should be the size of width that you need. I suggest posting on some other groups like

These machines are still in use and I think are better than the China clones that Delta has now. You also might take some pictures and post those.
