Yep -- a Tannewitz 36" saw is a dream. Now, what about your size, power and money limitations?

It really comes down to what you want it for and how much you are willing to pay. The Delta 14" isn't a bad little bandsaw. But if you want it for cutting bowl blanks you might find it underpowered, especially if you put the riser kit on and try to cut the full depth of cut. Yes you can do it, but you'll have to cut slowly. I've had a Delta 14" and its worked great for 10 years. But when I wanted more power and capacity, I went with a Laguna. Laguna is to bandsaws what Oneway and Stubby is to lathes.

I have a Tannewitz 36 and a Delta 14 in the shop at the school where I teach. If you have the ceiling height and the $ buy the Tannewitz.

As I was once told, "You can cut small things on a big band saw, but you can't cut large things on a small band saw."

I'd also suggest you look at Laguna.

Delta or Jet. I am pissed by Delta's awful w/s drill press so I say go for JET.

Good, not great right? I have a 14" Grizzly with 6" riser block kit which I feel is a very good saw for the money. Hasn't given me any problems in over 5 years

JOAT,

You need to state what you want the bandsaw for and what type of budget you had to work with.

Under $1,000 and for general purpose, the Delta 14" Under $1,500 and for light resawing, the Jet 18", Minimax S45 and Agazzani 16" Under $2,000 and for what ever your heart desires Minimax MM16, Laguna

Minimax MM20. It will fit through a garage door yet it has good capacity (20" throat, 16" resaw). It can use a 1" Lennox carbide blade without breaking the band. It has enough horsepower to cut wet bowl blanks (4.8hp). The lower guides can be set very close to the table inorder to provide great support when using smaller bands. All in all a very decent bandsaw for the money.

I have the Metabo Magnum BS 1638 W

This was the best i could find here in Israel at a reasonable price. If I was back in the US I'd probably get the Delta 14". I have the Oneway 1018 so there is no need for larger cuts at the moment.
