Royal Poinciana

Josah:

If I remember right, the wood will turn a nice yellow if you cut it right away... Letting it sit around a while (as little as a week) and the yellow will be gone. Much of the beauty of this wood seems to be the unique yellow color. It turned reasonably, sanded well, and finishing was easy. Turned it to "final thickness" wet, allowed it to dry briefly, then sanded and finished. Start to finish was on the order of two days. A second piece that was a bit older ended up with minimal or no yellow color, so is still laying around the shop somewhere...

Live in South Florida and found the neighbor just trimmed and set out for the trash pickup some large pieces of Royal Poinciana. Has anyone had any experience turning this wood?
