Hello all,
Anyone know of a source for 1" x 8tpi faceplates that actually has them in stock and ready to ship? I'm looking for the smallest diameter possible. Seems like 2" faceplates are backordered until May just about everywhere!
Thanks

Never mind- Rockler had them in stock, and they weren't even excessively priced for a change!
Thanks anyhow.
Try
I have had dealings with Bill and I'm very satisfied with his service.

Sorry, that's

If you get a 1" x 8tpi tap and you have some scrap wood, you never have to buy a faceplate again.
Prom, how many to you need. I have 2 i can spare. They are tin plated steel, very rugged. I used them early on a year ogo.
cad snipped-for-privacy@earthl> Hello all,
Don't know if they are available for order but Rockler had them in the store last Friday.
I have no doubt of that, and that was my first inclination, but he's out of the country for a month or so! That's a little too long to wait for these ones.
Ah, perhaps I need to fill this in a bit, even though I've already found and ordered them. They're to mount onto the back of stainless steel Longworth chucks, so they need to be machined and faced flat so that they do not distort the plates when bolted down, and are strong enough to spin large metal disks for the long haul. While what you're suggesting would be fine for use as a stand-alone faceplate, it wouldn't quite be up to this job, which requires other spindle sizes as well- the 1" x 8 was just the size that was sold out.
Ahh, that does make a difference.
if I were at home, I always have them
I know- I'll be bugging you when you get home!
