Ralph, I use turqoise and inlay it with epoxy dyed black. These are pretty big pieces of turqoise and I found they tore out when initially turned. The best way I have found is to lock the spindle and then file to relatively smooth. Hand sand until smoother and then power sand. Guy Sheeter
