I have added a few new articles to my websites educational library that you may wish to review:

Yes indeed, good information. You site looks great and has a lot of good info on it.

One thing, though. When I was at the site on the pages you linked, I got a lot of artifacts on the right side of the page. Just two or three letters from another articles which faded into the border. These go for quite some time, and then stop, then start up again. I found this to be true to all the pages to which you posted links.

At 1024X768, the pages is about 2/3 across the monitor. If you are setting up your web page with less resolution, you might not be seeing these artifacts.

But the pages worked great, the pics were clear, and there weren't any malufunctions.

Good work!

Robert

Hello Robert,

Thanks so much for letting me know about the problem on the new pages. We have fixed everything now on all of the new pages, so please check them again and let me know if you experience any more problems.

Apparently, the artefacts only appeared when viewing the pages on Internet Explorer. Safari, Opera and Netscape all showed the pages correctly.

That is one of the weird things about HTML and web pages... What works in one browser does not necessarily work in another! We're new at HTML, but we're trying hard to make sure the pages work in all of the major browsers. We are getting good at debugging HTML code. Thanks again and all the best to you and yours!

Sounds like Safari, Netscape and Opera did a better job of fudging the page. Not always a good thing.

Steve - clicked on every link. They look fine, now. I am using the ATT skin over Explorer, so that may indeed have been the culprit.

However, in the last reading in PCWorld, they estimate that almost 90% of net users still use Explorer whether native or skinned.

(No comments please about usablity, security, ease of use, etc., etc. It is just a simple fact. Besides... he got it fixed!)

I would just add one comment to your page on finding wood. I believe the quote has been incorrectly attributed to Custer, but I think it was Nathan Bedford Forest that said "we ride to the sound of the guns!"

I would put in your pages that when you hear a chainsaw, it might be time to "saddle up" and ride to the sound of the chainsaw!

Just kidding of course... but I know I make it a point to look around a little when I here that noise since it only means one thing...

Hello Darrell,

Thanks for your post! I forgot to mention that the pages also looked good in Firefox. I rarely use IE anymore, as I typically use Safari, or Firefox for my main browsers.

We keep copies of all of the major browsers to make sure that the pages work in the various programs... However, I forgot to check the new pages in IE. Everything is ok now, as it was a simple coding change to make it view correctly in IE. HTML is giving me grey hairs... :-o

Hello DC,

Thanks for the kind words... :-) I have about 300 articles that I'm trying to get coded and uploaded to the website. We are also going to be incorporating video segments into many of the articles, so hopefully, the techniques and protocols will be easier to understand. Stay tuned! Best wishes to you and yours!
