Turning Green Southern Pine?

I need to make something for a friend from a tree which fell on him. Sort of the revenge theme. Any experiences in turning sappy yellow pine? I would appreciate any tips or techniques. I plan on turning both end-grain and side grain. TYIA

I've turned a close second - Tamarack - and it's all that you'll want in resin, let me tell you. I kept dipping and cleaning the gouge with mineral spirits so it wouldn't burn. Careful of the immense difference in hardness between early and late wood. One case where turning with the bark side out, to keep the gaps between from becoming too wide as you hollow pays dividends. Don't "ride" the bevel, or you'll burnish everlasting compression rings. DAMHIKT!

No experience turning green SYP, but I did grow up on a turpentine still and I know green slash pine all too well. I suspect that when you finish 'gumming up the works' you will want to take revenge on your friend. Craft something tacky (choose your own meaning) out of pine cones & needles. :) Sorry not to help.
