What to do with my Banksia Buts?

Hi. I've just obtained a few Banksia Nuts and am thinking of what to do with this strange 'wood'

For what projects are these ideal? At the moment, I'm thinking goblets or bud vase (weed pot) but perhaps there are other more suitable items?

Any suggestions?

TIA,

Steve

I'm assuming you mean "Banksia Pods"? I don't think the Banksia has nuts but I could be wrong. And I'm REALLY not sure about the "buts".

Banksia Pods make neat hollowforms, jewelry (slicing them like bread and polishing is one way), clocks, pens, mushrooms, boxes, box lids (for a potpourri effect), pencil holders, paperweights, globe ornaments ....... oh, what the heck ..... any kind of woodturning project is suitable. Just don't expect it to hold water (or soup) unless you fill the voids.

Do a web search on Banksia Pod and you'll get lots of ideas.
