6x6 exchange July squares received

Good morning everybody on this bright, warm (no, hot!) Sunday morning. Just a quick word to say that I received Kira's squares on Friday, thanks Kira they're lovely, I really admire the colour work, too fiddly for me, but very pretty. And the tan square is so soft, it's beautiful. I also love the card and magnet. I really enjoy learning a bit about where my partners live, it's a great way to expand my knowledge of the world without having to pay to travel!! I went to the cinema yesterday, with DH, to a cinema in South London (the Ritzy Brixton for those in the know) to see film about the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, in which DD2 is performing next month. I learnt a lot more than I really wanted to know (Do I really want my precious baby to see/do all those things?) but I feel that the film was slightly Maybe more than slightly) sensationalised. At least I hope so! The really interesting thing about this cinema showing is that once a month a knitting group takes over a showing and they leave the lights up so that you can see what you're knitting (or whatever) It's great, and I really got on with the baby cardi (seamless, oh how I hate sewing up!)while watching the film. And afterwards it was drinks, toasties and crafting on the terrace, (tatting this time; too hot to knit acrylic in the sunshine!) overlooking bustling Brixton. A really lovely thing to do. Thanks again Kira Love Christine

Hi, Christine! (I'm not Kira, OR part of CNN, I'm just responding, personally cuz I love you!) Thanks so much for posting.. I agree TOTALLY about learning about where our friends here live, and not having to spend travel money! Hugs, Noreen

Thank you for your answer Noreen. I don't know if I'm the only one who does this, but the first thing I do after getting each partner's snail mail is to look up where they live on my World Atlas CD, or on the map thingy you get when you add someone to your OE address book. Then I Google for where they live so I can see what sort of area it is. It can sometimes make a difference, as when Marie (bienchat) was my partner I thought I'd send one of her squares lacey 'cos I figured it got hot in the desert, and that might let some air in. Silly maybe, but that's me!! Love C

Not silly at all, Christine. I always try to locate my partner's location on a map, and try to recall it my travels have taken me there. When Sue W. was my partner, I reminisced about when I had visited her city on a trip to England. By the way, Kent is still on my list of places to go.

Oh do come Jan, it's all a bit brown and dry at present, due to a rather hot spell and little rain, but in the spring when the fruit orchards are flowering it's lovely. Mind you if you want historical places to visit we can do those whatever time of the year you want to come. Winter can be a bit dreary, but I actually love it all year round Love Christine

Hi Christine,

I've marked my July list that you have received your squares from Kira.

Nora where it's hot and humid in upstate NY

I'm glad you liked them. The tan one is Amore. A previous 6 x 6 partner used that yarn, and I also just fell in love with that softness. As for the colors, I get bored with one color, plus I just love going through my stash and trying new color combinations, and hitting the local thrift shop for bags of knitting leftovers, to get a huge pallate of colors to choose from. Thanks for the compliments, Christine. Kira
