A pattern that middle school and high schoolers really seem to like!

Hi,

Lion Brand Fun Fur was on sale at my local shop so I bought red, pink and black and I have been knitting up scarves for some of the students at both my school and my wife's school. Big hit with them and it isn't very expensive.

For example, I use worsted weight Red Heart pink yarn and the Lion Brand soft pink Fun Fur ($2.00 on sale!)

Cast on 14 stitches with both strands of Red Heart and Fun Fur on Number 11 knitting needles

Row 1 Slip the first stitch knitwise and knit the next 13 stitches Row 2 Slip the first stitch knitwise and knit that row as well.

Keep up the pattern for about 60 inches then BO and weave in the ends! Oh, yeah almost forgot, a suggestion --spray a small amount of nice perfume on the scarf before presenting it to your young person, use hemp string to tie up the scarf as a roll and a nice tag...they really loved that! I used ny wife's Prada (I don't think she minds, but I guess I should ask next time! ;)

So if you want a mindless knitting project that will be a hit with young folks, here it is!

The variation I like: Row 1 Knit 2 tog, knit to last stitch, knit twice in the stitch Row 2 knit to end of row

Creates a nice bias, and pointy ends.

Just out of curiosity, why do you use two yarns? I knit them just with the fun fur, which seems to work fine.

The effect is quite remarkable with the darker pink with the lighter eyelash yarn (and a more substantial scarf). I did it originally just with the fun fur, but this seemed to be a bigger hit with the students with both yarns.

A couple years ago I made my daughter's friends some fuzzy scarves, and they loved them. The only problem I had was finding a non-icky green fuzzy yarn for one of them. The only greens I could find were this awful sickly color, but then I stumbled on one color of (I think) Cha-Cha yarn that was pretty cool, and the recipient still tells my daughter how much she loves this scarf.
