An almost-FO!

Just checking in...been lurking for a while since I had trouble with Google.

My almost FO is that 'easy mens sweater' I posted about some time ago. I went to my LYS (wool trends...amazing place) and searched through their patterns and magazines. When I told them I wanted a mens crocheted sweater in a bulky weight yarn, they (and I) had a grand chuckle...but what do you think showed up in a January 2003 issue of a Patons crochet magazine? That exact thing!! So now all I've left to do is four more rows on each sleeve and sew the sleeve and side seams. Looks just great; it's done in Red Heart Cozy Wool in the blue/green variegated.

I'm also on the hunt for a beautiful white sport or worsted yarn with some natural (cotton or wool) content to use as a top for my DD's confirmation dress. Depending on the costs involved, I may even use it for the skirt, but right now she's leaning toward a satin skirt, which is easy enough for me to make her.

Does anyone have any ideas? I've seen some all-cotton blends with lovely finishes, but I'm afraid it would bag. I've also seen the Bernat Cotton-tots, but it's too heavy for the feel of the top that I want. I want something with a beautiful sheen that will be very comfortable and allow her skin to breathe, so she's comfortable in it in the church, the reception and during photos. She'll be 10 1/2 when she needs it, and she's getting very particular about what she wants!!

My favourite so far has been a raw silk yarn (at that LYS) that will set me back waaaaay too much cash for a dress to be worn twice.

Also, I've finished a round baby afghan (simple circular rounds with a ruffle on the last round), a granny-square sweater for my oldest DD and a matching poncho and capelet for the DDs. Little DS hasn't gotten anything since I made him that Camoflage sweater, but he doesn't seem to mind (lucky for me he's all entralled with his upcoming birthday party). And after DH's sweater is done, I have to crochet three easter baskets for my children (and keep them out of sight of the inlaws, because I know they'll want some too!)

And thanks to my 6x6 partners for Jan and Feb; I haven't been able to post and I hope you've gotten my emails!

WB, Michelle. It sounds as though you have been keeping busy. That's good to hear.
