Blocking linen yarn?

Greetings all,

I am working on a lovely pattern using linen yarn. However, it is working up a tad wider and not as tall as I would like. Ordinarily, with wool yarn, this wouldn't bother me as I would block it to the appropriate size. Does anybody know if this will work similarly with linen yarn?

Any help appreciated!

Laura, my experiance with Linen is that it does not thrink at all. It loves water, and when treated with water and an hot iron, it will get a lovely shine. It does not have any natural stretch like cotton or wool. It wrinkles badly to the point that fashion designers have made it a fashion for linen clothing to be wrinkled...LOL I certainly would trying blocking it, You do not have anything to loose, but I don't think it will do much.

Any one else has any good ideas here.

I did a HUGE shawl using Loet's linen yarn. I didn't block it at all, and am still wondering if I should bother. It drapes nicely enough, and I fear if I block it, it may grow even larger than it is (it's really really big, trust me).

If you have any yarn left when you're finished, I'd try the ubiquitous test swatch for blocking, just to see what it does before you commit to the larger piece.
