Yarn Question

Hi Everyone.

I was hoping someone out there might be able to share some info about 2 yarns I purchased at a salvage center: Classic Elite Waterspun Felted Merino Worsted Weight, and Classic Elite Believe (77% Cotton, 23% Rayon).

The 1st question: What is the purpose of "felted" wool? I've tried to find info on the net, but all I get is info about how to felt something. I made an afghan out of this (crocheted) and while it is warm and lightweight, it pills up something awful. I have a lot more, and want to make a sweater, but I thought I'd get some feedback first.

The 2nd question: The CE Believe, is worsted weight and lovely, and I'd like to make a summer sweater out of it. I think it is discontinued, and I will just use it as a substitute in a pattern that calls for a similar yarn. Has anyone else has used it and if so, what you think of it? I was thinking that the contrast of shiny rayon & duller cotton would work well in a simple stockinette stitch. The texture is already in the yarn.

TIA for your help

and Classic Elite Believe (77% Cotton, 23%>Rayon).

Its a nice marketing gimmick. A big puffy single that won't hold together by itself can be made to stick together machanically.

Make a swatch. If you like it design your sweater. If you don't like it, fall back and punt.

Wooly,

Thanks for the link, and the info about felted wool. Like I said, I got about 20 skeins for next to nothing, so I am trying to find uses for it.

I have made a swatch for the Believe, but I'm having a hard time envisioning how it would look as a sweater. I guess I should just punt as you say!

Thanks again.

Do you have any old Knitter's? There was a sweater pattern in an old issue using it (I think). It's been a while back.
