Good evening, it was a glorious day, up intill about 4 in the afternoon. Great day for slugging it out with the weeds and also with Goutweed. It had taken over half of my garden. Three days hard work and I have it back under controle.

She made one! I will take a picture and send it to you. It is in her schoolbag now. We wrote Aud as you suggested, and she replied with a lot of interesting information on Norwegian Christmas customs, which Kandace is going to bring in to her teacher.

The weather was bad in Holland as well, so my SL told us this morning. They are off to France to Enbrun for a holiday. Lets hope it is warmer there. Here on the Island it was lovely today. The rain we are getting now is badly needed. It was getting very dry. We also have our first forest fires up Island. Lets hope this is not going to be a bad year for fires.

Packing ? i come for 12 days , i am carrying less , not more ,,,,A suitcase ??? brrrrr No just a bag ,, i usually carry my clothes Books [at least one Big Hebrew one from here - i find the quiet hours in a Non Hebrew speaking `enevelope` gives me time to read these books without disturbances, At least one or two handcrafts , 2 sets of clothings to change , nighty, A sweater , a rain coat ....Flying back i accumilate , books, [from Belgium], some mags, Knip, Burda, some knitting mag ,,,, they are much cheaper than here, Knip isn`t to be found here.... sometimes some yarns,,,,, Now an Unbelieveable story ,, my father likes Isareli Chocolade, mainly Orange peels covered with Chocolade] thus i bring Chocolade to Belgium. My friends at home love Belgian Chocolade , thus i carry some home withme !!! [ and i don`t touch it since i am allergic to it]..... ....Hee Shouldn`t forget my Umbrella,, my rucksack bag has a special pocket for it !!!. mirjam

I got my table (I think it's teak) at the second-hand store beside Duncan Garage.

My looms were very dusty and a bit grubby from sitting unused so I got in there with some Linseed Oil soap - even had the Q-tips out, LOL! BTW any good advice for cleaning a reed?

I haven't started a warp quite yet. I have one quilting project that I must finish before June 7th and then I will move on to the looms. Even though I'm now working only part time I *still* don't have enough time to do all the stuff! ROFL!

Alison talks about that place a lot, is that on the other side of the Duncan station (railway tracks) where the secondhand bookstore is as well. I have to have a look there, you two seem to pick up some nice bargains there...LOL

Cleaning a reed, is done with fine steelwool or sand paper and I know that a friend one time used a special rust remover. Otto advices againt it because to reed is held together with wax at the top and bottom. Is your reed rusty or just dusty. For the later, I would just use a soft cloth to clean it

OK join the club, wait until your are retired and you will be amazed how you did everything while you were working. I have never enough hours in a day to do it all. ( well OK take in account that I move a little slower these days...LOL)

I think I'll probably have to make it 3 or 4 sizes bigger, as I used 2 sizes bigger but the wool is so stretchy it just springs back into place again. I did it again and used my double cast off method (cast off every stitch twice), this gives a slightly picot edging which I like.

Tell Kandace I am impressed over that she made a basket! (we call them Christmas baskets)! It is an old teknique we always try to teach to our pupils, it would be a pity if next generation forgot how to do it! Last year we had pictures from the christmas workshop, when we made them, but this year we made someting else! I remembered we had some pictures from our Christmas workshop, 6. grade is making heart shaped decorations! WATCH the male teacher! we have just taught him how to do! We had a little sewing course for our two "boys" two days earlier! And THEY taught it to their pupils!

May 17 is also celebrated by Norwegian-Americans in a neighborhood of Seattle where many children of immigrants from Norway live. The parade is the thing there too. Other communities of people in Seattle participate - and groups from Ballard participate in parades for other national day celebrations.

Aud, I was sure you and your friends would be waving your Norwegian flags in Barcelona on Syttende Mai.

Sounds like a great day to have Aud, for young and old. Do we have a day like that in Canada, Katherine? I don't think so. It would be great fun to have one. We have to work on that one I think
