Happy Saturday

Hi all,

Just wanted to pop in & say Hi. The weather here can't make up its mind. Yesterday, warm & beautiful, today gray and chilly. That's Spring in the Deep South. Perfect day for sitting with the second sock of the 1st pair I've made. DH is anxious for a matched pair, so I'm happy to oblige. Really, he wore 2 unmatched socks today, the model sock I learned on & the 1st of the pair I'm making. And they'r re VERY unmatched.

It's quiet around here. DH & 2nd son are at a birthday party & 1st son is happy playing computer games. It's just me, my sock & PBS.

Hi Hesira,

It's still cold and windy here in upstate NY, but at least there is no snow to shovel. That's great that your DH is wearing the socks and unless he shows someone, who will know they don't match?

Hugs,

Nora

Hi Hesira

Just tell him he's right in with the tweens... my 10yo DD insists 'everyone' wears mismatched socks....makes finding socks in the morning easier for her, anyway! She grabs any two that strike her eye and I only have to find pairs for my other two children. :)

And since I didn't say so before, 'Hello from Newfoundland' (the eastern edge of North America...in case you were wondering where my nickname comes from).

Michelle, At the swim thing last night, there was a little girl with odd socks. Both were turquoise, but one was striped and the other had polka dots. She said that they were bought as a pair, and that all the kids are wearing them that way.

We did that in... oh... 1968, 69, 70, 71, 72, 73-ish... What goes around comes around, grin! Noreen

And, IIRC, in the eighties, there was a TV character named Punky Brewster who wore mis-matched sneakers as well.

Yes, I certainly remember her! The girls watched the show, while I knit and Dad did whatever.... LOL Noreen

Yes, Katherine, thanks for reminding me, and she's back on tv now on Sabrina...her real name's Soleil....but the Punky style, that's my DD1's style now...clashing colours, odd socks, and let's not forget the hot pink hair stripe to which I've promised to add orange before (yes, BEFORE) her confirmation next month. Wonder what the minister will say....they're already asking if the pink will wash out! I'm trying to find a salon that can dye hair pastel pink (to match the sweater over the white confirmation dress).

And so this is somewhat on-topic....I crocheted the two sleeves for the above-mentioned sweater/shrug/cardigan (depends on how we decide to do the front) today and will start the back tonight. 'Pretty in Pink' colour of Bernat Cottontots, to avoid any allergic reaction of her super-sensitive skin.

Yes, that's right. Soleil Moon Frye, right? I love your kids! They are definitely their own people, aren't they?

Now there's an understatement! Now this morning, for instance, on the way to church, they've all dressed in orange....bright, flaming orange! At least I won't lose them, I suppose.

LOL Definitely not! Not even if you wanted to.

but but but...I'd *never* entertain that thought....

Although it is rather cute to have them all in the same colour...it's been a couple of years since they've all agreed to be even somewhat similar in their dress.

Off now to see if they can agree on lunch...

*sigh* That's how I feel today. I think the moon phase has both our girls acting out their monster urges.

Today, instead of orange clothing, both girls had food marks and dirt from who-knows-where within three minutes of their getting dressed for church. I even held off dressing them until the last possible minute, to no avail. Where did they find the dirt? I haven't a clue. And they were finished with breakfast, so the food stains are also a mystery to me. I suspect they have a stash somewhere in one of their toy boxes in case of just such an emergency. "Oh no, Mom's cleaned us up! Quick, to the kit!"

I'm due with a boy in June, and something tells me he's actually going to be the prissy clean-freak type. That's going to be worse for me, I suppose.

Good luck with your boy! How old are the girls? We were painting today, and we all managed to get paint in places.

Ummmm.....I'm afraid to speak up.....my DS, the youngest of my three (my two oldest are girls), IS a clean-freak type. If his shirt gets wet at the cuffs while washing his hands, he has to change it and put it in the dirty laundry. Refuses to re-wear it until it's washed, too.....

My kids have a hidden 'lets-get-dirty' kit somewhere too....
