I've never had any truck with them and never will. They're like any other group, however, and take advantage of the "Squeaky Wheel" phenomenon.

LOL, I mean, so WHAT, if when sheep and goats outlive their wool usefulness, that they're sent off to third world countries for food. It's protein some of those people wouldn't GET otherwise! I don't see PETA people offering to take 'in' all the elderly animals! JM2C Noreen

I read where they released many animals from a facility that was doing research on curing animal diseases... animals that could not survive on their own, not to mention ruining a research project that was in the midst of years of work. The animals had been well cared for, and it was toward an animal health goal... not burning out bunnies' eyes to test mascara, or something. Kira

Now there is an idea. I think it would be fine to offer prisoners the option of being in experiments and have some special privileges or food or whatever, or NOT (up to them). But not for a sentence reduction. I could also see an offer of life imprisonment with no parole, in place of death. From what I have read, many animal-torturing experiments are done over and over and over, long after the proof is known. As far as the experiments on the military.... that is one of the horrors of our history, just like the syphillis "study" on black people, and Abu Ghrab. Kira

I have an incarcerated nephew, who has reduced his time by two years on a total 20 year sentence, 10 in prison, 10 wearing an anklet... and he's down to 9 each. BUT, he can lose that, just by his own actions, and would have to start all over if they did take his 'credit' away. The max credit he can get is 3 years TOTAL, thereby making inprisonment 8

1/2 and bracelet 8 1/2... JM2C, Noreen

speaking of, how about the Chicago Board of Health sterilizing retarded citizens in the 60's and 70's??? Another woe to our history, just like those you mentioned, Kira!

I have a feeling that if we did some research, we'd find a whole slew of things to be really upset about. Sigh. Kira

Hear, hear!!! I have been against PETA for as long as I can remember. Boycott wool, indeed! Have they seen unsheared sheep? Remember the one who escaped and lived in the wild a few years ago and the mess he was in when he was finally found and sheared? I will use acrylic and cotton AND wool!
