my latest

it was buried in another thread, but I've posted photos of my latest Schoeller Dryskin creation to a.b.p.c.

(alt.binaries.pictures.crafts) That works great for posting photos.

Very good it looks too.

DH is talking about a new windblock type jacket - the last one I made was made out of some French stiff: 2 layers of fleece and a Gortex type middle to the sandwich: it's a bit stiff, and he wants something to roll up in his back pack a bit better. I need to do some research, but it will have to wait until I'm clear of bridesmaids!

The one he has wobn't go to waste: he uses it as a general purpose winter coat! It's been up a few hills.

Nice fit on the fellow. Nice gift! How hard was it to do that hidden pocket? I've been trying to figure out how to do something like that for a pillow.

alt.binaries.pictures.crafts doesn't show up on my list of newsgroups. alt.binaries.crafts.pictures is there. Am I doing something wrong? Sharon

your isp may not carry it.

Some newservers (mine included) don't carry binaries at all. They use a lot of bandwidth and there are quite a few that have posted images you would not want to stumble upon unexpectedly.

considering that on most news readers you have to tell the soft ware to "go to" or "subscribe" to a certain newsgroup, I think it's pretty unlikely that one would stumble upon a binary group that wasn't what you wanted, unless you made a typo like "cracks" instead of "crafts' and didn't look at what you are doing....that would be interesting to say the least.

That may be true, but there are ISPs which simply do not carry the alt.binary hierarchy. That's their decision, and until enough of their customers complain, they probably will not carry any. The alt.binaries hierarchy is huge, and has *lots* of traffic (some of the busiest groups have retention times in _hours_ at newsguy). It's a lot easier for a smallish ISP to say 'we don't carry alt.binaries' than to pick and choose which ones they will carry. Lots of the alt.binary traffic is illegal (copyright infringement); and ISPs just don't want to deal with that, either.
