How big is your current STASH?

How big is your current stash? Is a good part of it 'hidden' or is it in plain site? Hugs, Noreen

You don't want to know. I have more Lamb's Pride (worsted and bulky) in my stash than the LYS usually has in stock. Cascade and BaaBaaJoe's isn't far behind. Sock yarn (including leftovers) fills a

30-gallon bin. J&S and other "British" yarn fills a 40-gallon bin. Handspun, close to 200 gallons.

And that's not the FIBER.

I have: Reynolds Mandalay silk yarn for a sweater from Interweave Knits Sirdar Breeze cotton yarn for a sleeveless summer sweater (NEXT summer) Some Lion Brand Fun Fur and Microspun for a purse Three different Baby Alpaca yarns for various hats and/or scarves Some Lion Brand Homespun for either a lap throw or a moebius. Lion Brand Wool-Ease for a sweater Baby yarn for preemie sets Some Caron's Simply Soft leftover from the Mickey Mouse throw I made for my niece's baby. I'll probably use it to make a lap throw. Some miscellaneous Brown Sheep yarns leftover from mittens and hats, etc. The wool yarn I have for the Christmas stocking I have just started Also, I have a couple of different kinds of sock yarns to make socks for myself after I try my hand at the Christmas stocking.

And then there's my counted thread embroidery stash.......there are not enough hours in the day to list it all...patterns, fabrics, threads, charms, beads, kits.

I'm thinking I need to go knit or embroider something. I'll see y'all later! BonnieBlue

TOO big! Seven big (55 gallon) Rubbermaid bins stacked in the closet, and two flat under-the-bed rubbermaid bins. Plus assorted big bags. Plus two stand-up knitting caddies holding lace and sock yarn. My realtor asked me if I could store them in the garage -- NO WAY!!! We compromised by hiding it in the closet, but she still says I have "a serious yarn issue". :)

It's a bit misleading though, because much of it, probably close to a third, is random stash that includes leftovers and extra skeins of various things from different projects.

Hi Noreen,

All my stash is out in plain site, don't need to hide it and if I wanted to I don't know where I would put it. Right now I have nine various size containers full of yarn, most of it's Red Heart and done by either variegated or solid colors.

Hugs,

Nora

I don't hide any of my stash any more considering I am trying to use it up. My stash is now a little more than I like but considering the deals I've been finding it's been worth it. Besides three fleece waiting to be spun, I have just over 150 pounds of yarn sitting around. This sum doesn't include the crochet cotton or the cotton cording that I currently have.

Heh - never hidden.... I'm proud of it.... 12 totes full, 2 under the bed thingies(they're big) and numerous bags (sacks) full that I haven't sorted to put into the totes. Oh, and a cardboard box with some more... plus two bags with the new yarn from Colorado that I brought back last week. Oh, and a cute woven basket that holds a bit more. Giggle.

Wow, now I feel better about the size of my own stash hee hee! In my walkin closet I have a floor to ceiling bookcase full of yarns, everything from wools to lionbrand homespuns to aran weights......I have assorted large baskets full of yarn, two of them with the

*specialty* yarns such as eyelash, furry, silks, hand dyed etc. I also have a big, shelved rack full of yarns. This rack used to be for a candy display ( a large > On Sun, 3 Jul 2005 22:58:05 -0500, "Shillelagh" spewed

Hm, maybe you should set up shop, Wooly. My LYS never gets their orders from Brown Sheep in time! The owner says they have a 6-month backlog. I have been waiting for one little skein of Nature's Pride for 4 months to finish a sweater and I think I'm going to be one skein short for the felted vest I'm working on for DH. At least that is not something he'll be wearing until fall anyway!

I love reading about everyone's stashes! It makes me feel so much less guilty about my own ;) I think it's clear, though, that there is going to have to be a yarn room in the next house we buy.

I have way too much or certainly not enough depending on if you ask me or my husband. I have 12 (52 gallon) sacks full of acrylic for charity knitting and crochet.

6 totes full of yarn mix ... wools , cottons , silks, mohair , cashmire,bamboo,alpaca..... and what I cannot recall too. pleanty of small grocery sacks that I have yet to sort where they need to go and I went Friday and picked up twelve skeins of cotton and 8 skeins of wool for projects I want to start. Plus I have about 15 projects already going in bags. I really need to stop starting and start finishing ( gulp ) Coggie

I still haven't finished sorting through everything (bags and boxes) since moving in here. However, I'm working on it.... I managed over the last couple of days to go through six large garbage bags of clothing that had been stored up in the very large room upstairs. Matthew brought them down and put them in front of the sofa for me to sort through as I watched a couple of things on TV. I came across some clothes that we had been wondering where they were, and some other things that we had forgotten about. Also found a few blouses that will take a LOT of weight-loss for me to fit into, and although I do want to lose weight, I really haven't missed those particular blouses anyway.... so... they are in a "donation" box for St Vincent de Paul.

I *know* there are bags and BAGS of yarn upstairs... and I can even grab those bags if I want to, but I don't do yarnwork in the heat of summer anyway. Besides, if I start playing in the yarn, I will never get around to sorting through other things. ;o)

As for your comment about a yarn room, Laura.... that is my plan (I hope) for the large upstairs room. It is one large room, with a big closet, and two areas to the sides of the closet where the walls go back a bit (ummm does that make sense? The closet sort of sits out into the room with the walls recessed beside the closet)... then there is also a recessed wall that my desk or my large chair can fit into with two small windows in it that look out to the west and I can watch the sun set behind the school. So when I manage to get everything sorted and out of the upstairs room, I'd like to set it up as an office/yarnwork room where I can sit quietly when I want to and just write, knit or crochet undisturbed. :o)

Okay, so that's the plan... it remains to be seen if it will happen or not. Plans do change and so does my mind... often! LOL

Thank you, Laura! I'm glad that you could picture it from my description. :o) Sometimes I have to watch how I describe things, as the words just like to flow too much at times and then there is overload to contend with. And here I am a so-called writer! Ah well... I really do need to control my words and thoughts at times.
