Hi Els,

Well the size I made for Stella's sister is 49 squares, others have been either 48 or 56 and they are quite a nice size. Maybe someone else has a better idea. What I do is put them on the dining room table and see what looks good for the size and the number of squares I have, then go from there.

Hugs,

Nora

I agree with Nora! But if you have fewer, you can just make the borders broader. The afghan I made just now was 5x8 squares, I meant to make more squares, but prefed broader "calming" borders this time. with these broad borders I COULD have used 5x7 too, I think THAT seize had been even more "in harmony"(you understand ???), but as I sometimes like to bury head and foots under a blanket at the sofa( :-)) I thought I would make it long enough!! AUD :-))

When I made the afghan for my Mom as a surprise Christmas present and had to slip off to my bedroom to work on it or wait until she went to the Day-Away Program, I waited until she had gone to the program one day close to Christmas to lay all the squares out on her bed and wrote down how many were across (and the order) and how many were down the length (and the order). Then I put all the squares back in the bag and crocheted them together when I had the chance. :o)
