Leftover Bulky Yarn Put To Use (from Gemini... NOT her son)

Thank you, Carey! I'll see if I can find someone who won't charge an arm & a leg to have a look... when I have some extra money to pay whatever they do charge. It would be nice if we could keep the washer as I like the way the clothes come clean in it. I did kind of wonder if the hose (screen) was blocked, because I noticed when the hot water valve was turned on from the wall, and then when I turned the machine on, the water spritzed everywhere. So the screen would be where the hose joins hooks up to the water pipe?? I am soooo knowledgable, can you tell? LOL

Peace! Gemini

everywhere.

Since the person who could answer exactly where the screen is located isn't here right now, I am going to hazard a guess and agree with you, since I think the only other option would be where the hose joins the machine. Oh, pardon me: he just returned and advised that if water is spraying all over like that, "you can pretty well bet it's a plugged screen." You should be able to see the screens in the end of the hoses when you disconnect them. Just make sure you turn the water off before you do. (Or perhaps the hoses need replacing, if they are REALLY old; they might have deteriorated inside themselves.)

As for checking the screens, you really should be able to do that yourself, or have your son do it. It doesn't require a professional for that.

If it's a Whirlpool/Kenmore/Kitchen Aid/Roper/Sear machine, this site might help:

my washing machine manual (yup, i actually read them) recommends replacing the hoses every five years. besides sand/minerals in the water clogging the screen, the vibrations from normal machine operation weakens the hoses. i've never actually bothered to change the hoses every 5 years though... i've had a couple washers burn out the pump (old washers, around 15-20 years old) & it's not cost more than US$75 plus a few hours to replace them. cheaper than a new washer or dragging stuff to the laundrymat. lee

Hello Gemini! I just thought I would send you a note letting you know that you are not alone! I too have FB and Had a disk removed 18 monthes ago. There was so much for me to celebrate this past month I haven't had the time to get online any sooner. Like you, I tire very fast and have to get things done when and while the going is good!! I have many days I can barely move my hands and it so upsetting when you look at all the projects you are in the middle of or want to start. I do a little bit and put it down. At least I will have a feeling of accomplishing something, no matter how small!! I am only just 39 (just had my bday) and I am too young for all I have going on. I have found some new things I want to start so that keeps me motivated. Plus the Fair is coming in 2 monthes!! I just want to say, chin up! Life can only get better!! All my best, Fairwinner

Thank you for the information... I am sending it to myself so that I can show Matthew when he's home this weekend if he has time to check it out. That would be great if we could just fix the hoses and it worked. *looking forward to actually being able to use our own washer without having to lug the water* :o)

Peace! Gemini

Awww, I'm sorry you have to go through this nasty thing too. I was working it out and it looks very much like my pains actually started when I was in my late 20's, but the doctor chalked it up to tendonitis for a long time. Then when I was in my 30's he told me "You're getting older now, you likely have arthritis setting in." *sigh*

The pain is bad enough, but the lack of energy is really annoying when you have stuff that you need to be doing. Oh well... do what we can and put the rest on hold. *shrug*

Anyway, it was nice of you to post the message to me. I hope you have many more good days than bad ones. *hug* :o)

Peace! Gemini

PS. Fairwinner? What have you won at the fairs? Curious minds want to know! ;o)
