For those who crochet, there are a few patterns out in crochet. One,which I can't find the link to right now, wants you to use singlecrochet, and while working in the round, you are supposed to chain 1and turn your work at the end of every row, rather than continueworking in the round. However, it uses single crochet, which is adenser fabric, which I used to crochet my convertibles, and I did minein the round, not turning my work, so it spirals up somewhat. Since Iprefer knitted ribs, I finished off the crochet section of myconvertibles, used my crochet hook to pick up cuff stitches, slippedthem onto my DPNs, and then knitted the ribbed cuff in the round onthe DPNs. I *think* I might have my notes around here somewhere, butdefinitely no set pattern written up. I just made the pattern up as Iwent along, but they fit like a dream, and are very warm. The pictureI have is one of the fastening experiments. The round Velcro dotsfell off, so I sewed on larger strips of black, which also still cameloose. I've switched to a button on the cuff, and a tie to wraparound the end. But, I have an older picture ready that I can stickon my site, so you see what mine look like: I don't have really short fingers. I just don't like fingerlessgloves going over the first knuckle, so I made mine short enough toonly go about halfway to the first knuckle, for better dexterity. I did find one crochet pattern using double crochet. I bet these would be really fast to work up, but I worry about how warm they'd be because they are so open. It also looks like the flap is completely removeable, which while totally freeing up the hands opens you to the possibility of losing the top altogether. I'd mod this one to move the button closer to the cuff and while making the top separate, I'd either pick up stitches and work the flap as an attached piece, like I did on my single crochet ones on my site or sew it halfway on once I was done making the entire piece. Either that or make extra tops for when I lost one or both LOL.
