I am cleaning my working space. Pulled everything out of the cupboard and no I am not finding any dates of any kind....LOL

Boy oh boy lots of stuff, I still can't make up my mind about. I asked Otto if he wants a nice little hamer. He wonders if I stole it from him in the first place, ha, ha. Most likely so. From safety pins to Chinese paint brushes. A hole punch for knitting machine punchcards, I had been looking for for a while. Lots of small kumihimo braid warps. Written instructions for braids I have long finished. Paper making tools, good to have ready for a summer workshop on paper making at my house. I set of wool combs Otto made for me years ago. I buy most of my spinning supplies ready to go, and have not used them for a long time. A tiny sample loom to try out ideas. I found it way to small and have only used it once. I whole box full of tiny odds and ends. They all look useable, but I have no clue for what or where they come from. Otto tells me that one is a anchor from a motor. Maybe it can be used for incorporating in a Kumihimo braid. Boxes of T-pins, safety pins, regular pins odd buttons etc. Most of it will go back in the cupboard God forbid I would need it one day. Way to many knitting needles. Maybe those should go to the Sally Ann so I can buy them back a couple of weeks later, and come home happy with a bargain.

Mirjam, this made me go into the bathroom to look for dates on the calendar you sent with the threads. I see some yellow ones (wish I could taste them) on the June page and brown ones coming up in October.

Ooh, I want to come to your paper making workshop. Now I can honestly say I'm not a packrat. There isn't a lot you can store in a 1-bedroom apartment plus I can't live in a cluttered space.

Ouch. I resemble that remark, more right now than usual, having just been to a closing sale at a used book store.

It's hardly a mnemonic, but there is "A Stocking in Rhyme", by Anoymous. It was posted on r.c.t.y. on Saturday, 31 May 2003 by Slick Hippy Chick. She found it on a website and it was originally from 1885, in The Jenny June Series of Manuals for Ladies Knitting and Crochet A Guide to the use of the Needle & Hook.

It's two and a half typed pages long. You could probably find it on Google by searching for Subject: A knitting poem!

No no, you're not the only one. I'm actually getting rid of some stuff tonight. I've got clothes in the closet I haven't worn in years, so they are being folded up for the Salvation Army. Maybe then I'll have room for the few clothes I wear. Right now my so-called guest room is a store room , and it's a mess. I'll be tackling it when I've finished the rooms we use.

It's very warm and muggy here in Manitoba tonight. Hee, maybe that's just me, not the weather. ;>)

Tamar you certainly are good, wow, eitheer in researching or memory. I know that Katherine one time talked about a I think a Canadian Folk singer who sings about home made socks. I tried to look for that song at the time (a couple of years ago) I am not sure that that is what is wanted here though

LOL, clean space, yes as well as lots of old and new ideas.

Scraps of cloth to make quilted bags, and saved old T-shirt for rag rug weaving. Cleaning up that way gets you reacquainted with all kinds of planned projects and half finished ones. Looked at some nice material brought back from Indonesea by a good friend, also found the silk I bought for making a jacket, for my Daughter's wedding in 2002. LOL

Jan I hate clutter as well, and after a carding of an huge alpaca fleece I got from a friend, I had to clean up to see clearly, to be able to the next project. That brought out the cleaning up of the big cupboard. Looks so much better now.

I bought a great book on paper making in Toronto while we were there in March. Jan you may be able to get it from the library. It is called The Complete Book of Paper making by Josep Asuncion.

For paper making you do not need a lot of tools, and the tools you need are very simple. When you have a blender, a mould and deckle a couple of large buckets. Some old paper to recycle old newspapers or two wooden board to press you made paper in between, you come a long way to making your own paper. David Watson wrote the book Creative Handmade Paper. It is another great book to show you how to go about it.

I don't know which issue, but Interweave Knits had an article that had knitting a sock to the tune of "76 Trombones..." I suppose if I look, I could find it. I thought it was fun as "Music Man" is one of my all-time favorite musicals, and my DDs were in a school production of it two years ago!
