OT - I *really* have to shut down now....

As I just told Nora in an email... I have to get off the computer and start the preparations for tonight's supper. Pork Chops, mashed potatoes, corn and homemade applesauce.

I happened to have four pork chops in the freezer. I had bought a bag of potatoes, a bag of apples, and a can of corn nice and cheap at NoFrills last week... so we're all set. And for desert... Strawberry Fluff Pie... I had a graham cracker crust and the packages of Jello already, and last week the IGA had strawberries on for a fairly good price. ;o)

I also have a $20 gift certificate for M&M's Meatshop that I am going to hold on to until this upcoming flyer starts. They have cabbage rolls (with a free bag of perogies), and meatballs coming in that flyer... so I will be getting some for the freezer. ;o)

Anyway... I *really* have to get off here now! Talk to you all again tomorrow!

*hugs* Gemini

Too bad I can't come over for dinner! It sounds delicious. I just come back from ShopRite. Guys are off to hockey and Amy just got her braces put on. Soooo...not too much going on for supper tonight. I am doing a Marie Callendars pot pie for me and mushy stuff for DD. She wanted the frozen mashed potato in a shell for dinner. I think that is yucky, but she likes it and I want to let her choose tonight. I promised her a milkshake, so bought the fixin's for that.

We will eat during Survivor. We will be taping American Idol. How dare they put them on at the same time!!!

lol

Have a great evening! Diane

It was, thank you! :o) Ummm... except for the homemade applesauce. It wasn't *quite* done when I left to get Matthew... when we got back to town I remembered that I needed to go to the store to get milk, so I dropped Matthew off at the house saying "Turn the dampers on (for the potatoes and applesauce) and put the pork chops in the frying pan... salt and pepper them and turn it on to 250 and I will be right back."

Before I opened the back door to come inside when I got back I go the distinct smell of scorching. I opened the door to find the kitchen filled with smoke. Matthew had turned the dampers on HIGH and left the room... the potatoes were fine, in fact they weren't quite done when I got back... but the applesauce was caramelized very dark onto the bottom of the pot. Matthew said "I blame *you*! (of course) You KNOW that I can't cook!" LOL I had to laugh!

Matthew ended up having a tub of strawberry flavored applesauce with his pork chops and I had some of the caramelized homemade kind. It was tasty, but really stuck to the teeth. ROTFL I'm just glad that I didn't make a LARGE pot of the homemade applesauce like I had thought about doing. I only made a small amount, so not much was wasted. ;o)

It reminded me of the story my Mom told about how when she and my oldest sister were going up to the store for a couple of things, she asked my brother-in-law to watch the peas on the stove. When they came home the smoke curled out the door to meet them. The peas were scorched BLACK onto the bottom of the pot which she never could get clean and had to throw the pot away. She said to my brother-in-law "I thought I asked you to watch the peas?" His response.... "I did Mrs. I stood there and watched them!" ROTFLMAO

So this is one of those things that Matthew will never live down. ;o) Hey, he can cook on the barbeque anyway... and does a nice stirfry too. Just don't ask him to turn the dampers on unless you remind him to watch (and keep his nose near the door too) that whatever is in the pot doesn't burn. hehehe

Oooh, can you believe that one guy (Patrick) got voted off last night? That really surprised me. I was half expecting that other one (Sway) to be gone. The other guy... (umm, Bobby?... the big guy who did a Barry Manilow song) didn't surprise me that he was voted off. I already have my top four for the girls... but I have about six for the guys who I think will be around for a while.

I didn't end up making the Strawberry Fluff Pie afterall... I will have to do it tomorrow though, or the strawberries will get too mushy. I believe I shared the recipe here before, but that was before you were here. If you'd like, I will repost it for you and the other new people? :o)

Hi! About those reality-tv things...The American Idol...Never watched that (the time zone difference is why), but I have seen the Finnish version of that program...It is Idols in here. And I must admit I like it. And when the Survivors are in question...I can not let it go away..must use the trap aka the tape...Sometimes you just have to watch one program and let the trap take care of the other. I know that. And after there are enough of full cassettes, I just sit and enjoy...watching and knitting. Aw man...I love it. My favourite hobby, must admit.
