OT: Sheepish Question

Right-o, Christine, I think of mutts/muttz as dogs/mongrels too, that's why I liked Dad's descrip much better, LOL! Hugs, Noreen

Hi Noreen,

That's what my Mom said her Dad used to tell her she was Heinz 57.

Hugs,

Here in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (well, about an hour north), the Heinz

57 description is the most common. I suppose that would make sense with the Heinz plant downtown. :)

Joy (who is a "heinz 57" herself; married to a man who is 25% Italian, about 10% Cherokee, and the rest "mutt" )

I don't actually lose my temper very often, but I can really make it look as if I'm VERY cross if it's useful. (Don't often do that either!) But I do have some *very* well knit sweaters Love & higs (in a very good mood; day off work, going shopping!) Christine

Did you hear about the Irish man who was walking around the streets with a cabbage at the end of a lead....eventually some old lady went up to him and said... ''' why are you going around with a cabbage on the end of a lead sir?'' The Irish man looked down at his cabbage and then at the old woman and said... '''That ain't no cabbage, it's a Cauli !'' (collie) + (Cauli as in Cauliflower)

Gem, The dropped "h" was common in outport communities, but not at all where I lived. Central and western Newfoundland residents didn't drop or add it. THe isolated islands tended to do it, too, but given that many of these people came from parts of England where this was common, that is not surprising.
