question regarding measurements/gauge

Have you tried contacting the writer or publisher of the pattern? Maybe there was a typo or something.

I can swatch till the cows come home, but my gauge always ends up being off..... so I always try to go by the measurements rather than the stitch counts. Some times it works out, sometimes it doesn't! It's all part of the "home-made" look I figure!

LOL! I'll take that as as compliment anyway, though I dareso I will not look as good as the model in the picture!

The sweater looks like it is going to be great! And I love your tumbling blocks. I just picked up the book that has that pattern in our local used bookstore. Someday I will get around to making it (someday meaning long after your pictures are posted!).

Thanks for the advice, Mirjam. This sweater is all in wool so it should behave itself.

Who ever looks as good as the model in the picture? Although I have a guide that if the pattern makes the model look fat, it isn't going to do ME any favors. I have a lot of projects on my list too. The only things that keep the wip's under control are time, storage and budget. Thanks for the kind words. Dora

I followed the gauge explicitly on those two Chanel jackets I just finished. My daughter ended up with them both because they did not turn out large enough for me. I could not believe it . If I had known that I would have made one very light and one very dark so at least she would have gotten variety. They came out kind of expensive so in her birthday pile of presents now for May. It was the weirdest thing--I guaged it so carefully and it still ended up weird--been doing this 40 years as well ! Barbie

That is a good suggestion. At this point I'm just going with the flow though and we'll see how it turns out. Tonight is the group's meeting night so I am interested in seeing if others are having the same problem.
