Yes, once a year! And you walked in hot tar in the summer to make new soles, so they'd last till fall when you got your new pair, OR put cardboard in them... LOL! N.

Cardboard? Wow! And where did you find hot tar? We only had dirt roads in the summer.

ahh, but my uncles, you see, worked for the CCC... one put in roads on US highway 8, the other cut trees and put in roads in the Nicolet Forest! Noreen who is actually doin this from her MOM's recollections... so, it could read but my BROTHERS, etc.

yep, before the oldest went off to WW2, the youngest stayed to work the farm. You betcha the CCC was a lifesaver for many farming families during the GDepr. Hugs, Noreen yah, i got the drift of Monty! here's a FULL 'monty' for you, LOL UU
