...or is it a virus, LOL?? ;-)
Visited a very close friend (Linda) a few days ago, she's became my mother figure after my real mother died 15 years ago. She lives way out in the country (seriously in the boondocks) and is retired (her husband is a dairy farmer) with LOTS of time on her hands. She had back surgery a few months ago, and can't get around the farm and do lots of stuff she used to do, so she's basically housebound most of the time.
The last time I went there to visit we got to talking about scrapbooking, and I shared some of my albums and layouts with her and she expressed a lot of interest in learning more about scrapbooking, since she has tons of family pictures, etc. So since then, I've been gathering a little bit here and a little bit there, and got her a cropper when Joann had that big sale on Labor Day, and all the stuff pretty much filled the cropper!! Took it to her when we visited last week, and she looked literally like a little kid at Christmas! :-) I had a lot of fun watching her expression as she pulled everything out of all the little pockets and nooks and crannies in the cropper (was $60, marked down to $19 at Joann's).
Got her one of those wooden scissor carousels from Costco, and her husband had a lot of fun experimenting with all the scissors! :-) Cracked us all up. Also got her a big pack of solid colored 12X12 cardstock for her, as well as a book full of LO ideas, techniques, etc.
She was soooooooooooooo excited and has so many ideas for pages and layouts...I'm sending her the info for this ng and the website, but her server isn't the greatest so I don't know if she'll get here or not...she has greatly enjoyed the stories about Dave and his paper obsession, because she's starting the feel the same way! I had 2 slabs and let her go through them and she pulled a bunch of papers and just loved them. She's coming to town tomorrow with another relative and wants to hit Michael's, Dollar Tree, etc. to shop for herself! :-)
Oh, and yesterday I went to Michael's myself to use my 50% off coupon, and checked out the clearance aisle, and found a lot of smaller sheets (5X7, 8X10) of vellum with designs, plain colored vellum, and just regular design papers. They were originally marked .79 cents each, marked down to .40, marked down again to .25, marked down AGAIN to .10!!! Got to the register, and they were only a PENNY each!!!!! They had bunches there, so hopefully by the time she gets here tomorrow we can head back over there and she can peruse them herself and see what she might be able to use. However, I feel that she is going to turn into a female Dave in obsessing and collecting a variety of papers! :-)
So, how many people have YOU converted today? LOL.
